The OBA is a growing body that started in 1946 & was resurrected Jan. of 2006 to offer clubs & boxers an alternative to participate with equal & fair treatment. If you have participated in other contact sports, you can still participate in boxing with the OBA. Our sport requires medical fitness prior to participating & a doctor at all sporting events.
The club fee is $600.00 per year (not including coaches) & that provides insurance for the registered members & event site insurance with limitations. If $5,000,000.00 is not enough, you can add a ryder at a small cost to increase the liability coverage. Call the office for details.
The yearly registration for coaches & boxers is $60.00. If the boxer is a new member & registering after October 15th, the fee is $90.00 & the registration will expire the next year end (December 31st).
Boxer registrations require: an OBA medical form completed by a certified physician (a nurse practitioner is not acceptable even with a license physician’s signature): an athlete’s medical; persons under the age of 18 years, must have parental or guardian approval on the application & medical forms; 2 identical photos current within 6 months; an OBA membership application form completed with proof of birth. Acceptable proof of birth is a birth certificate or a photo driver’s license or a photo health card. All forms are available under ‘forms’ at the top left of this page. If coaches have their certified copy of the NCCP program or any other certificate in sports education, it must be submitted upon registration. Without certification you have one year to complete the OBA certification requirements.
Training members, may work out without any combat at a fee of $45.00 per calendar year – From Dec. 1 to Dec. 31 of the following year.
A license to host a boxing event is $200.00 plus $400.00 plus any parking fee for the officials. All programs must contain the boxer’s name; birth date; experience; & clubs to the office by noon of the prior day.
The request to hold an event can be made in writing but if the $600.00 is not received in the office, within 7 business days or the request to hold the event, you will not be guaranteed the event date. Be sure to include directions to the site from one of the highways. Also provide the phone number of the site & the cell of the host.
All clubs may attend the General Meetings. Clubs that have been registered for one year & over & has 3 active boxers is a voting club. Interpretation is at the OBA Directors decision.
The OBA is a family & here to help each other with their boxing endeavours. If you want to go pro or amateur, we have the clubs & capable coaches to train you & guide you on your way.
The OBA goal is to teach & guide you through your boxing experience. We will do what we can in order to make that experience memorable as well as helping you to reach your growth potential & be the person that is honourable, responsible & able to stand up for what you believe in – also to know that it takes a big man (or woman) to bend down & help a child or a needy person. Fairness & equality are honourable traits to attain.
We welcome new members and allow everyone to address any executive with any problems. Want to join – call OBA 905 356 9393 – a friendly association for boxers & their coaches.
